Javier Ruiz

Javier Ruiz is a UK-based independent expert on digital rights with a focus on access to knowledge, transparency, privacy and ethics.

He supports a variety of civil society organisations worldwide, having been involved in a broad range of digital policy and advocacy areas such as copyright reforms, online safety, open data, privacy, digital trade, and state surveillance.

He is a member of the UK Government’s Trade Advisory Group on Intellectual Property and a Senior Advisor to the global umbrella organisation of consumer groups, Consumers International.

Javier is the former Policy Director of the Open Rights Group.
