- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft create engaging campaigns and clear and compelling content that inspires people to take action
- Has working knowledge of creating and posting content on social media platforms.
- Understands how to take online action to the next level of personal activism and engagement, and working with activists.

What the job will involve
- Devising and executing campaigns in conjunction with the Platform Power Programme Manager
- Creating and posting content for ORG’s social media channels such as Facebook, X, Instagram, Mastodon, BlueSky and YouTube.
- Managing and leading ORG’s network of volunteers, encouraging deeper engagement and high impact campaigning from individuals.
- Devising and executing end-to-end email marketing campaigns in conjunction with the Head of Communications and Campaigns, aimed at recruiting, engaging, and retaining members, supporters, donors, campaigners and volunteers.
What we’re like
ORG is a vibrant digital rights campaigning organisation. Founded in 2005, we have 10 local groups across the UK and thousands of active members and supporters.
We uphold human rights like free expression and privacy. We condemn and work against repressive laws or systems that deny people these rights.
We campaign, lobby, go to court – whatever it takes to build and support a movement for freedom in the digital age.
Our remote team is spread across the UK. We’re a supportive, flexible group with high standards. We’re innovative and agile. You’ll work hard but be rewarded by the impact you collaboratively achieve.
We take staff well-being seriously and meet up regularly for in-person work and social events.

Candidates are welcome to use AI as a tool to correct spelling and grammar, and can build on some of its suggestions, but those applicants who lift answers directly from generative AI tools, without building on it, are unlikely to pass the first round. AI generated answers tend to be generic and lack depth, so are unlikely to match those answers that candidates have devised themselves having familiarised themselves with our organisation and the job description.
The recruitment platform we are currently using, Applied, hosts its applicant and hirer databases on Amazon Web Services (as per its privacy policy). If you do not accept the terms of Applied’s privacy policy, you can apply for this post by filling in this manual application form and sending it with the subject “Campaigns Manager: Manual Application” to recruitment@openrightsgroup.org before the application deadline.
Please note, as a small not-for-profit organisation, we may not be able to respond or provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants who submit their applications manually in this way.
